Somewhere
1 box / 5 packets / 2’500 sheets of standard a4 paper
Photography and video
Somewhere, 2017-20
It takes me two and a half uninterrupted hours, laying down 2’500 sheets of ordinary a4-format paper on the forest floor. A standard box containing five packets of five hundred sheets each. As I lay down the sheets, a gentle wind blows leaves down onto the white, empty pages.
Everyday objects influence our spatial behaviour - even if not always obviously. In Somewhere, they are placed in the forest: converted, misappropriated or just unfolded, they briefly create unexpected, poetically-charged situations. Through photo and video documentation, spectators discover the work only later and somewhere else (photography and video) - a double distancing.
