Landmark Tower Dublin
Competition
Client: U2
Location: Dublin
Year: 2003
In collaboration with: R. Zecchino
The project is situated at the junction of the river Liffey and the Grand Canal, two main canals of Dublin. The building is structured by two volumes, one in U-shape, the other in 2-shape playing with the band name, but more than this, standing each one in front of a canal, so to symbolize in verticality their junction otherwise only experienced horizontally. The facade of the building is a green coloured concrete 1.2x1.2 metre grid structure, three modules corresponding to a floor. By this, the appearance of the building is no longer related to human scale, but takes its expressivity as a monumental landmark.
